Dr Paul Super
About Dr. Paul Super
With over thirty years of experience in UK hospitals, Dr Super also gained valuable expertise through bariatric training at units in Belgium and Austria in 2001. He further honed his skills in endoscopic procedures at laboratories in Hamburg and Strasbourg, where teams advanced bariatric surgical techniques and band insertion.
Shortly after his specialised training in Europe, Dr Super established the bariatric service at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. Nearly 20 years later, it has become one of the largest bariatric services in the country, providing laparoscopic procedures to NHS patients from the Midlands and across the UK.
Dr Super is a highly experienced surgeon who performs over 200 laparoscopic gastric band procedures annually and has performed more than 10,000 operations in his career. He is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Birmingham and regularly presents at national scientific meetings.
Our surgeons are selected for their exceptional skills and extensive experience in their respective fields, ensuring the highest standard of care. We prioritise patient safety and satisfaction, with all our surgeons operating under practising privileges agreements. They are registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and hold a valid Licence to Practise. Continuous professional development is a key aspect of their careers, with annual appraisals and a mandatory GMC revalidation process every five years. Additionally, each surgeon carries their professional indemnity insurance and must meet the stringent requirements set by our Clinical Governance and Compliance Committee.
Despite their vast experience and the thousands of procedures they have performed, our surgeons and clinical teams understand that every patient’s journey is unique. They are committed to making your experience as reassuring and positive as possible, ensuring that your care is tailored to your needs and expectations.
